The jazz ensemble
CROW, a fourteen-year-old tap dancer, busks across the street from a bar named Desiree's. He sees things he shouldn't and knows the comings and goings better than anyone. Desiree's is the lifeblood of the local working class – tired stiffs, singers, poets, cheats, players, and jazz artists, like Cecil Regal and Sphere – all living on the margins, working for a dime.
